Default I need free Google Analytics alternatives

Okay, I love Google Analytics and use it every day. However, in case of disputes, I feel like I should have another analytics program backing me up.

Any suggestions? I don't need anything to necessarily replace Google Analytics. Just something I can use to back check it in case it's being inacurate.

hittail is pretty good. It isn't free, though. You do get a 60day trial or something.

Know anything totally free? I wouldn't actually be using it regularly. It would just be there for disputes... especially with Yahoo, who love to claim I get 800 more hits from them every month than Google Analytics reports...

um, not really sure why it's all that important - but you can use statcounter - I use the free version on my blog but only gives you the last 500 referrals (for free). I like Hittail a lot and use it on my real estate site but had the account before they started charging for it. They all seem to return slightly different data, but in my opinion, it's not significant enough to obsess over.

Doesn't your hosting site offer webstats?

I have used 3 at one time to try to get a median for stats and Google Analytics was the most accurate of the three I used. I also looked at my server stats which are correct but don't provide a lot of data and they matched up closely with Google Analytics. Google's Analytical system is great because it is very detailed and even maybe slightly conservative.

I'd recommend GetClicky. They are fantastic -- better than Google Analytics in some way. They have paid plans, but they also have a completely free version.

Our host stopped being an actual host a long time ago. They do keep their former clients on their servers, but we can't really do anything with them. I can't really move the site either, since I don't have that authority

Here is a good blog post about the different analytics sites people have been talking about:
