Does anyone know a really good site with SEO tutorials? Or maybe a book?

SEOmoz's Beginners Guide is a really good introduction to SEO.

If it was me. I'd go with SEO instead of email marketing. our company hires a SEO company and now it gets inquiries through our website. Email marketing is hard to do because you cannot target your audience and niche and most of your mail goes to spam or you are not assured that the person will read it. We tried e-mail marketing and we prefer SEO better

Email marketing is not just an affordable option (you can save money on paper, printing and postage) but it is a green choice also. You can provide valuable information to keep your clients interested while you save the environment by cutting down usage of paper and fossil fuels. In a day and age when direct mail is nothing more than unwanted clutter and millions of people using the Internet for information, e-newsletters have turned out to be the quickest and easiest means to market businesses.
