Default How do you know if people find a site using the URL

When I look at the analytics for my site I'm not sure how to identify how many people used my domain url to find the site. Can anybody tell me what I'm supposed to be looking for?

Larry if you have an REW idx, you can track their entry point. Also on GA, while you can't track a specific person, you can see entrance and exit pages. Look in the REW idx under tracked visits.

VRI I don't know what you mean by direct traffic.

Gregg I use GA. I can see what search terms they've used, and www.larryhanndotcom never shows as a search term. I can see where the search originated, and I can see how many enter via my home page. But a lot of search terms open to my homepage.

I'm trying to figure out how much traffic I get from people using my full domain name either in the address bar or in the general search.

Does anyone have that kind of stat for their site.

You know as soon as you log in, and you are at the dashboard? (its the part where you see the graph along the top)

Scroll down, look bottom left - see the pie chart? See where it says: SEARCH ENGINES, REFERRING SITES, DIRECT TRAFFIC? See the # and % next to DIRECT TRAFFIC?

VIEW REPORT. Now see in the bottom left corner: SOURCES? (direct) (if you don't click VIEW FULL REPORT)

Malok - I don't see that on the GA that I use, which is provided as part of the Point2 system. Maybe I need to use GA directly?

I checked in with the Point 2 forum, direct traffic on their system is called no referrals. Since jan 01 18% of my traffic is direct. I'm wondering how that compares to the direct traffic for others on this forum.

Larry Point 2 has, if I am not mistaken "urchin" tracking, which was later purchased by google. They customized it and kept it. Google can't be tracked on their site, but you can get good information on the "ultra stats" section that is very useful as it was a predecessor of GA. I don't know if you have the limited or pro, that may make a difference on availability of the stats, not sure on that one. The direct traffic is where they type in your url.
