Best host for a Real Estate Wordpress Blog

After attending the Canadian EXIT Realty Franchisee conference in Toronto the end of last month I am increasingly becoming involved in blogging as it was stressed there how important it is. When I first started blogging I toyed with blogger about a year ago once or twice on their domain and then started a serious Wordpress.com blog about 2 months ago on my own domain. The thing with Wordpress.com is they don't allow for much customization(plug-ins or themes) or even meta tags. I wondering if anybody has had any experience porting an existing blog from Wordpress.com to Wordpress.org. Also wondering what the best host(s) are for a Real Estate Wordpress.org blog. Thanks in advance!

I've had great experiences with Rochen for hosting wordpress blogs. Did you know that LEC's come with blogs? You might want to look into that first. In my opinion, much better in the long run. I wish I would of migrated my stuff to an LEC ages ago.

I use Media Temple (mediatemple dot net) to host my Wordpress blogs. One hosting account allows me to host 99 domains/separate installs of WP blogs (no, I am not using them all!).

Their "gridserver" is a shared system, and seems to work quite well. I think it's $20/month, plus I pay an additional $20/month for a MySQL "burst container" -- which you don't need unless you have a fairly significant amount of traffic.

MT had some uptime issues in the beginning but seem to have turned the corner.

I've heard good things about BlueHost.

I'd avoid GoDaddy. Been there, done that.

If you have an REW site though, as mentioned, I'd give very serious consideration to their integrated blog platform.

I've been with Dreamhost since 2003. They have an easy one-click install for Wordpress and upgrades. The worst part about having a self hosted Wordpress blog is doing the updates. It takes less than 30 seconds with Dreamhost and couldn't be much easier.

LEC's are an awesome product and great bang for your buck. If you can, I would recommend you get one for your market and you will never look back.
