    Default Webmaster Tools Question

    Hi Guys,

I logged in to Google Webmaster Tools and I see a new layout/design. I do see my website in the list. When I click on "Details", I get the page were the following text appears.

"Use this page to reverify all currently verified owners of this site.
Ensure the verification file or meta tag is still in place for your account.
    Your verification meta tag: <meta name="verify-v1" content="Kt1CgGwLgOk0DBegLS6jYB4SACZ43M8KfQi+eObZ4 Bk=" >

The meta tags or verification files below may exist on your site.
You are the only verified site owner."

When I checked in CMS, I see a different verification code entered for my website.

Should I update my tracking code? If yes, why did this happen? This same code has been in place since October and I've never been asked to update it.

Could it be just a glitch on Google side and wait it out and not do anything? Maybe has something to do with the new design.

Anyway, let me know what you think I should do.

    Thanks,

    Russell

The new design is completely goofy. It basically just made things more confusing if you ask me. I don't really see any design improvement. It's telling me that my sites aren't verified so maybe it is just a glitch.

Just re-verify. What's the big deal? I like the new options, like anchor text. I wish they didn't do away with the 404.

One of the things that they have changed is you now cant download all the sources of errors in XL as before which is a real pain as it was very handy.

I like the new layout. I find all the info I access frequently now on the main "dashboard" page.
I am however getting a lot of crawl errors. "robots.txt unreachable" is what is says on the detail. When I click on the link with the so-called errors, the page loads fine. Hopefully this is just a glitch as I never had any errors prior to the layout change.

I'm getting "robots.txt" errors as well. I think I'll just wait a bit and see...

You are getting these because you don't have one - by default REW does not install robots.txt files (because they would just be empty anyways) - it's a 15 minute work order to have one uploaded, but I am not convinced that one is needed (unless you have bots you WANT to block)

    Here's an update.

I checked my Webmaster Tools and everything seems to be working now. I didn't do anything and it got fixed on it's own.
