    Can you give an example of a specific URL you are talking about? If you don't want those "stealth" pages indexed couldn't you set them up to be nofollow?

    Although the data in webmaster tools is not updated daily, it is MUCH more accurate than the "site:" operator and will give you a pretty decent idea of how much is indexed and how much isn't.

    The pages that aren't shown via the "site:" are still indexed normally. What is going on is that the "site:" operator is only showing a semi-random subset of the total pages available.

    Webmaster tools shows a significantly larger number of pages indexed for my website and, from the discussion, it sounds like it is much more accurate than the "site:" operator. I'm happy.

    abcharlton,

    IDX data alone is usally not enough to get indexed. The reason is google tries to detect duplicate content and since there are a gazillion idx sites out there its hard to convince google you are the original source for the data.
