I'm negotiating to buy cityrealestate.com for my area. How do you decide what's too much to pay, and is there anything that I need to be cautious about.

It depends on how dense the population is for the city and how many searches there are for city real estate. To get an idea of how many searches are done check out the Google adwords keyword tool.

Are you buying it for a marketing perspective or an SEO perspective? Personally, I wouldn't pay too much it. Most of the time the people who have them think they are worth WAY more than they actually are IMHO.

The market is hard to define. In this location there's about 150,000 people but we get a lot of out of province / country business.

I want it more from a marketing perspective, but anything that benefits SEO is a plus

cityrealestate.com in a city of your size $5000-$10,000 USD (personally)

    Citystateinitials - $1000 maybe.

For that kind of money I would focus on investing it into on/off site SEO and generate a ton of natural looking links that will more than over compensate for the lack of a cityrealestate.com URL.....just my 0.02.

I have to agree with Agnafl, I would rather take that few grand and spend it on SEO, print advertising and etc.

I would tend to agree with Morgan. For my main city, I'd go as high as 10k. This would be in addition to what I would spend on SEO.
