Default Wider layout and still trying avoid a Google penalty

I appreciate your time in looking at this, it has me confused and frustrated.

I am a Realtor not a web guru, I work on my site and try to be above board and avoid any black hat type stuff to the best of my knowledge. I just widend the site to 975 and added drop down navigation options while hoping this "penalty" would go away. I'm not intending to complain because my site performs very good in the search engines but one key search phrase eludes me.

When searching In Google for "Redding Real Estate" my site was #9 yesterday and #89 today. It's done this before many times and makes me think I have done something to cause it as an "allinurl:" search shows me consistently in the #8 or #9 position. Most of the time in the last year or so I have been ranking in the 20's and 30's. So my question is what is your opinion of what is causing it?

Keep in mind I don't want huge changes as the site ranks:
#1 Yahoo, #1 Google for Redding California Real Estate,
#1 Yahoo, #4 Google for Redding CA Real Estate,
#1 Yahoo, #1 Google for Reding MLS
#1 Yahoo for Redding Real Estate

At the time I contracted with a provider for the mls search functions they weren't available here for my area. Thanks to Morgan for having this site and forum available.

If you have any #1 rankings in Google at all, you most certainly do NOT have a penalty (they aren't keyword specific)
Starting LEC 7 soon but it won't be called LEC 7 - LEC 2012 coming soon!

Why would it jump and drop so dramatically and so quickly? over the last couple years it seems to do it on a regular basis. I have read here of sites bumping back and forth but haven't seen such a large variance. It was at #9 for the last two days and #70ish for a week or so before that. Should I ignore the "Allinurl" results? Could there be something?
