I'm thinking it might be fun to play some golf while I'm there for REW. Does anyone have any info on what courses are nice? Also, does anyone want to play? I'm average at best. On a good day I'll shoot low 80's and other days I'll shoot high 90's!

LOL!!!! - I golf every single weekend and if I break 100 1 in 10 times I am a happy man heh. You are far more than average.
In terms of close to REW - I would recommend Nanaimo Golf Club (quite nice actually) http://www.nanaimogolfclub.ca/
or Fairwinds which is in Nanoose about 20 mins drive away (my favorite course on the island) http://www.fairwinds.ca/golf_here.htm
If you want REALLY nice but quite a drive (to Victoria over 2 hours away) you could take a look at bear mountain http://www.bearmountain.ca/
Starting LEC 7 soon but it won't be called LEC 7 - LEC 2012 coming soon!
Incidentally those are only a few of our many - I probably play at least 30 different courses up and down the island each year - in fact we were just at a place called storey creek in campbell river (2 hours the other way) and it was super nice as well. So really, if you want close and not super fancy we have it, if you don't mind driving a bit and want a jack nicklaus designed course, we have that to.
All depends on what you are after![]()

Thanks for the info. I'm fine staying close and not driving 2 hours. Any golf is good golf to me. I'm sure they all have great views....that's all I look for in a golf course. It's the only place I can go where I think of nothing else.
When I first started playing in 2001 I played every day and hit 400 balls after each round. I was on a mission. Within 4 months I was a 9 handicap. Of course my wife then told me I better get to work and start making some money and there went my game. I'm a 16 handicap now and quite content...ok, there is still a part of me who wants to get back to a 9, but I know the commitment and can't do that right now.
Thanks again for the info. I appreciate it!
