Great idea Joe! Blogging for "long tail keywords", what they like to refer to as in the SEO industry, is a great way to get targeted leads. On our blog, we like to write content that is both engaging and ranks well. Sounds like you do the same!

For years now the Yellow Pages have been in decline and people are using Google and other search engines to find local real estate properties, so optimizing for specific locations is essential.
For people who actually read your blog with any frequency, toss in some personal posts too and other things that are not related to real estate. This will help make you look less liek a number cruncher and more like a person.
very good info Smuck. It never hurts to get back to basics

Writing local is always the best bet. I live in a city made up of very distinct and recognizable neighborhoods. If someone is looking for a home, they will search for a neighborhood, not a city. If your blog has local happenings - farmer's market, local restaurants, school events - your blog will be read.

Thanks for the tip! I made the mistake of making my blog for all of Dallas-Fort Worth, which coincidentally makes it difficult to get a high page ranking. I'm going to try writing some neighborhood specific articles and see if that helps. Good stuff!
