    Default Global Wrapper - IDX

I am looking at IDX companies for my blog. I would like the listings to be displayed on my domain for SEO purposes. An iframe wouldn't isn't a good option for this reason. One company offers the IDX listings through a "global wrapper" - The listings would be on blog.subdomain.idx.com or something like that. My question is would this be on my site or "bridged" in like an iframe? And, how would Google view the listings? Would my site get credit for the links (would they get indexed on my site?)

    Thanks!

The IDX company gave me two examples of their work. One site has the listings on a subdomain, when I search google: "sitename.net" + IDX their "sitename.net.idxcompany.com/idx/.../results.php?...idxID" shows up in the results.

Wouldn't that mean the site is getting credit (or at least being indexed) by google?

Basically you will be renting the data which will be on a feed to your subdomain. Unless it's an iframe or you have nofollow tags the data will be seen by search engines and possibly as duplicate because the same feed may be rented to others. An additional problem with this and hosted solutions is you have no control over the data and are locked in to the provider.

But duplicate data isn't penalized if anything it's only ignored. I don't see this as a problem. I would say it is better to have duplicate data through feeds than no data at all. They only charge on a month to month basis and I can back out at anytime.

I don't quite understand when you say,

Have no control over the data
Does that mean searches are limited in some way? Or perhaps the way it is displayed?

    Thanks for the response!

Some brokers what the freedom of updating and making changes in the way the listings data is displayed themselves or to hire someone else to maintain the IDX. It's a matter of preference and what you feel comfortable with.
