Default Need some blog help for the New Year!

I am getting paranoid because I left you the last thread!.
    Four issues:

    1. The blog navigation is not connecting to a page- the categories are not connecting to a page- what am I doing wrong?

    2. Under the archives- the pages with tables are not updated. Aaron you corrected the tables in my blogs saying something was missing for me to do the tables. Under archives those tables show up the "old" way.

    3. Can you put a whatever on the blog page so I can insert an article from word?

    4. When you click on "Blog" at the top of my home page and get the summary pf the blogs why are my tables so long for the first row?

Sorry to be such a pain. I wish there was a more detailed explaination of how to do these things that I could go to.

    Hi Nancy,

    Regarding Number 1:
"1. The blog navigation is not connecting to a page- the categories are not connecting to a page- what am I doing wrong?"

When you create a new blog entry, at the bottom of the entry page will be a bunch of categories with checkboxes next to them. The categories you select under that entry will be the categories that entry is tied to. When you click on one of the categories on the blog page, any entries that are tied to that category will display.

For example, you have successfully entered the "30 year fixed rate below 5%" entry into the "Home Inspectors" category.

When you create a category you are not really creating a page, you are simply creating an organizational structure for your blog posts. The text that you fill out under "Description" is just a header for that category.

Hopefully that helps! Your other issues are currently being looked into. We will update you as we make progress.

    Hi Nancy,

We added the paste from word button to the content editor for the blog. We also changed the archive page to show the tables.

Regarding the tables showing long, the blog page only shows a portion of a blog post if it's a long post, so this can cause a table to show up weird if it's cut off.

    Alex,
I corrected the categories and found my mistake. We really need an instructional manual for some of these projects. Anyway- My tables are still not corrected as poor Aaron said they were and why are the pages cut off. If the pages are going to be cut off then there should be a message for people to click on the title to see the entire blog post.

    Alex,
I looked at the page again and I am thoroughly confused. There are categories on the right hand side of the blog page under blog navigation. When I click on the category I expect to be connected to the page it is associated with. Right now you click on the category and there is a message that says there is no page associated with that category. That is an error. There is a page associated with that category- that is why I created that category and I put the title of the page in when I created that category. Why isn't that category opening that page associate with it when that category is clicked? All those categories are my past blog pages.

Unfortunately this is how it works, the tables show fine in the full blog post but the blog summary on the blog page will cut them off sometimes which will cause them to show up weird.

How about a read more link? I added one to the end of each blog summary on the blog page. Now you can either click on the blog post title or the read more link to view the entire blog post.

You're actually connected to a summary page of all the blog pages associated with that category

This will happen if there is no blog post associated with that category. To associate a blog post with a category you must check the category check box of the category you want associated with that post when creating or editing a blog post in the blog section of the CMS.

I couldn't find any categories with this issue but if there was one it would be because that category's check box is not checked for that blog post.
