    Default Question about partner linking page

    Hi gang,
    I have come across a few of these type of pages lately and thought I'd clarify with some of ya'll. I have a site that has requested my link. At first glance the page looks good byronbayguide.com.au/lc/georgia/237/1 It's PR 5. But with a cache check it doesn't come up and my link looks like this
    <td colspan="2" class="no_reci_class"><!-- 080305 - redirect links feature --> <a class="BlueLink" href = "http://www.greatgeorgiaproperties.com" target="_blank"><b> Georgia mountain land </b></a><br> <span class="SiteText"> Hiawassee Georgia mountain land. </span></td>

    So it is my guess this is not a good linking partner?
    Thanks sward

    I wouldn't want to link to this site. Check this http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search
    Could be that the site is being penalized for some reason.

    Oh so you are saying that if a website is not cached that it is penilized? Could just be new. You didn't put the "Au" on the end, with that the website comes up with pr4 and is cached. what I want to know is why is the link page a PR 5 yet is not cached? And is my link in fact a redirect on that page?
    For now I am safe as I have not added the link and probally won't if I can't find the right answer.
    thanks sward

    It isn't cached because of the robot file says not to:
    <META NAME="GOOGLEBOT" CONTENT="NOARCHIVE">

    ah thanks Ken didn't check that. So does that mean the PR doesn't pass through either? Why not archive it?

    Just because a page isn't cached doesn't mean it isn't in the index. I am running out hte door, so I can't check to see if it's in the index. The other thing is I'm not 100% sure about the code around the link that you posted. Will have to look at it closer, or maybe a code junky can tell us.

    There are a lot of reasons for not having G cache your pages, scrappers, copyright issues, ext.

    A site certainly doesnt have to be cached to be in the index, some shadier SEO companies with use the no-archive tag to hide their source from prying eyes viewing the cache and then source (In realtime they use other compression methods for hiding source.

    I personally would not link with any site implementing CSS to hide divs

    If you view this page byronbayguide.com.au/includes/javahider.css you can see this code

    .hide_div {
    visibility: hidden;
    }

    They are intentionally creating a div to hide information of one kind or another. Sward I am going to kill the live link in your post as we dont want to link to them from here either, but my advise is to stay well away from this site they are clearly violating the SE's TOS.

    Thanks I knew they were doing something ....just couldn't find it myself. I'm sorry I thought I did kill the link. Thanks for fixing that and the answer! Why don't folks just play fair? .... Just don't get it when you can succeed above board why cheat?

    It has a lot to do with where they learn, in many cases they come across sites doing the same that are doing well, and just emulate - other cases they learn at forums more selfish than helpful, and sometimes they are just big jerks
