Yahoo is a top Search Engine next to Google but If you ranked just fine without it, why waste such money? I guess,just like other directory sites, good backlinks is the main reason. If you have to pay,to get rank or get backlinks, it is always depend on your insight at the end of the day.

No one likes to spend money if they don't have to. That said, building "ranK" is a combination of many things. One of them is getting good quality backlinks. Yahoo definitely provides it.

There are not many links as authoritative and on an old domain such as the Yahoo Dir you can get as easily, or for that cost. Being listed there goes a long way in establishing site trust with the Big G as well.

I am really debating if I can justify this kind of expense. Can anybody give data of how their site has done prior being on yahoo directory and after??? Did your SERP's change that dramatically (if at all)???

I didn't pay for the directory and I don't feel you need to if you know how to do SEO. I've only been doing an SEO campaign for 6 months and am on Page 1 of Yahoo for several major keyword terms and Page 2 or 3 of Google.

I don't think that's what the post meant. I believe he is is saying that you don't need to be in Yahoo Directory to achieve good rankings. In any case it was posted 2 years ago and that member hasn't posted again the last year so I don't think you will get an answer from them.
