Take a bit of time with insights and compare against a known high performer, you'll then see which can deliver the most traffic and which you may want to optimize for. Keep in mind the numbers they provide a relative and not actual quantities of searches, when you use a phrase that you know you can compare to others. I use "Redding Real Estate" as a benchmark and have been surprised by some of the results for phrases I would never use but obviously many others do.

    Good Luck!

Google insights is great for finding keywords that are on a rise but insights only gives you trends, not a real traffic number - that's where traffic estimator comes in.

I've personally used both for this tax credit campaign that has been working out pretty good so far.

    thx
I think this is the tool we usually use to measure the performance of our website and I guess it is pretty much working fine and even if it doesn't, do you have any other option?

    Hi Guys,

The keyword tool is great to estimate CPC information on AdWords but the traffic estimator does not provide valuable information. Actually in Google's initial creation of the keyword tool they thought about removing that aspect of it because most of the time it is just a very, very rough estimate.

Google is so sensitive on keywords. For example a word keyword has different results from the word keywords. So choose your target keywords carefully.
