Everybody is looking for the quick fix, and comment spammers have been around years. I just wish they would find a way fix e-mail spam.

I would not be surprised to find that several of these folks are using the old spam post technique, of Robot scripting. That is to say, a custom VB program that opens and posts across several sites. These use a data base of passwords and user Id's. Sure the Paid comment has to go and set up an account , but once the jerk keys the info into the programs data base: Write a post, and it gets dumped onto the all the blogs he/she can comment on.

I'm using the WP Spamfree plugin and it's pretty good at stopping the spam bots.
