    Default Article Writing and Syndication

    Hello,

I find the best way to post articles (for me at least) is to post it on your website first, wait about 10 days for Google to index it, then submit it to the top directories...

The more directories you submit to the better. (but don't get caught up in the idea of submitting to every directory you can think of. or you will waste valuable time)

    Here's my strategy....

    1. I have a writer that I use all the time. It would take me a couple hours to write and I'd rather hire someone for $10 per 1,000 word article. Although she lives abroad (but is a native English speaker), she writes great articles and I have been using her for a while so she knows my local market well. I have her write about an article a week .

    2. I post the article on my website with a long tail keyword for it's sub-page (ie. http://www.yourdomain.com/real_estate_vancouver). and let it sit there for about 10 days until it's been indexed with Google.

    3. I hire an article submitter to manually submit the article to 400 article directories (including ezine, goarticles and other high PR sites) for $20.

The reason I post the article on my site first is so Google will see my site as having the original content and will hopefully see my site as the 'authority' for the article. Then... it sees the other copies of my article posted on all the other sites. Also, I am always sure to have a couple backlinks in the bio box with targeted anchor text.

Any thoughts or opinions are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

Hi Jeff, interesting strategy. I am new to the article writing myself and am interested in what the more experienced have to say.

Happen to know if the syndication of articles like that has any ill-effect as far as duplicate content? I know that article syndication is fairly popular but curious as to your thoughts and others thoughts who are reading this. But then again the articles are being posted on sites other than yours, so duplicate content from those sites would not directly effect yoursite yourself I would assume...interested to hear responses.

interesting. I just read a post that suggested you submit an article to an outside directory before you put it on your blog.

Jeff, have you not encountered difficulties with getting the articles submitted on Ezine and similar? I know they have issues with duplicate content.

Sorry about the late post... I've been traveling for a while...

Michael - I get the articles syndicated by a person overseas.

MrWonton - No problems with duplicate content yet... I think they are more worried about you posting material that you didn't write.

Watts - No problems with duplicate content.... If there was, people would be syndicating articles to 1000's of directories with back links to their competition...

Gregharaksin - I don't advise posting it on another blog before your own... You want to look like the leader and not the follower in the eyes of Google

    Ciao for now,

    Jeff

I have seen some issues with duplicate content before, and like Michael I am also curious - where do you find someone who will manually submit to 400 directories for $20?

In order for Google to know who the article's belongs to, Google recently suggested to create a Google profile page and link it from the article to your Google profile page. Also link from profile to article.

Solid point Jeff. Everyone including myself worries about duplicate content, especially since the panda update. But it would be tough to penalize to heavily otherwise what would stop people from syndicating there competitors stuff.

Don't be too concerned about the duplicate content thing. It's a filter, not a penalty, and the link juice still counts (at least in my experience) if you keep it under control. Having the same article on 10-50 directories is fine, having the same article on 1,000's is probably not such a good idea. And if all else fails, just spin the heck out of the article each time you submit.
