Could you explain the PR toolbar update? Not sure I understand. I heard Google was not providing PR anymore and although I think PR has value, there are many site on page 1 of Google with ZERO PR.

Google periodically exports the page rank or PR of every page in the index and puts them on the little green tool bar. It is then not updated again until they want to typically around 3 months but it varies WIDELY.

When it updates it gives you a ROUGH idea of whether you are BUILDING authority on the web for your site or not. It is not a perfect measure and oftentimes Google will take PR away from a site that (for instance) has paid links and you will still rank well and yet the Toolbar says you PR has dropped. If you see it change in between updates, that's a pretty good sign IMO. grin

Yea I noticed today my PR went up on one of my sites. Woohoo!

For those that may be wondering, in checking various sites it appears that the snapshot of the PR is from before September 24.

Internal pages will go up and down all the time but for the most part PR is still pretty useless. If you're holding a 5 and up then there is definitely a sign of quality..but still I expect them to phase it out completely by the end of next year. I have super low quality affiliate blogs gett more pagerank than my older established sites with high quality links and disgusting amounts of unique content.

Go figure sometimes..but then again that's Google for ya
