Default Auto Generated Search - Price Range

Is it possible to increase the auto-generated price range in an auto-generated search? The range now seems more too restrictive.

For example, in my CMS I have a registered user named Allison Jordan, who has viewed properties from $225,000 to $512,000. But the price range for her auto-generated search is $275,000 - $300,000, which is much too narrow a range, given how wide the price range is for properties she has actually viewed.

    Thanks,

    Hello Ron

The auto-generated searches tries to be more accurate to what the lead will want for a house by narrowing the search. The calculation is based on the 20 viewed properties. The top 2 prices and bottom 2 prices are removed and the rest is used for the search.

The fear is they may looks at 1 or 2 multi-million dollar houses and we dont want that to effect their auto-search.

We can change this for you with a work order however if you feel that it is not providing accurate results to your leads.

Remember that these auto-searches are not meant to be perfect or accurate; just enough to get the lead interested and hopefully have them return to the site to edit the search or call you to edit their search.

OK, I understand the range thing, dropping the top and bottom 2. But my auto-generated search ranges always seem to be $25,000 wide (i.e., $275,2000 to $300,000 or $150,000 to $175,000), when I know the user has been viewing properties in a wider range than that.

Is there some code in there that limits the upper and lower price to a range of only $25,000?

    Hello Ron

I looked a little deeper, and your right.

It determines the median of the prices they have looked at and sets the min to the nearest Min Price used in your search form and sets the max price to the nearest Max Price in your search form.

And since this is the way it works by default you will need a work order if you would like some other scheme for picking the price range.
