Keywords in a domain do slightly matter as well as an aged domain will make your SEO life less hectic in the beginning.

I started thinking of SEO in terms of user interaction with the website. Building a site a user will want to use and get use out of is the most important. Having a good backend that will filter you leads. After you get that set up its all about lead generation, and the way to get people to your site is to get authority/backlinks

You can have a great website with great content that yeilds an amazing conversion rate yet have pretty much no rankings. I feel they're two different things. You have to work on both and find a balance. Just writing captivating content isn't enough by itself. You still have to play the SEO game and even on-page optimization is only a part of that.
