    Default Yahoo Optimization

Most everyone talks about Google and Page Rank and Google Backlinks and such... what about Yahoo?

What to do to get higher placement on keyword search results? Does Yahoo look at the same things as Google?

Or how is rank or popularity or whatever tracked, established, counted and maintained with Yahoo?

    Thanks

You know what...I've got a site ranked #5 on Yahoo for our second tier of keywords and we get hardly any traffic from it. That same positioning on Google drives volumes of people to the site. I'll have to admit, the rewards for placement with the "lesser" SEs seems limited. However, it's an intersting question nonetheless. Anyone have some insight for SEO of Yahoo?

    I do.
I have a site there with tons of keywords place in small text at the bottom and it hits top positions for serveral of then - even some in competative kw Markets. It has no/few BLs and no rank what so ever with G. I get Great Traffic from it for it it's worth, there's just not much content or info there yet. Y loves it too!
Pm me for the site... its a area/community site thats in my RE area.

    YAhoo is oldschool SEO,

    H1
    Paragraph
    h2
    paragraph
    h2 paragraph
    h3 paragraph

Of course each element contains your main kw phrase, then hit up the title, desc and meta kw tag in the same fashion

Use your kws in the filenames as well as the anchors to other internal pages
try an onpage anchor or 2, and toss in a couple of alts

    Any questions?

That easy huh? What about for highly saturated KWs? Other things like directory listings and BLs do come into play don't they? Or not as much as on page optimization?

Yahoo needs a lot of work if they are going to give google a run for their money. Seems like most of their top results are sites using old school tricks----doorway pages, cloaking, hidden text, etc. When we had great ranking on yahoo we received a fraction of the traffic that we got from google, and we had the same ranking/keyword for both se's.

Firstly, anyone heard that if you do not have a meta description tag that Yahoo takes the content from the page?

I've seen this and because the keywords in the content within the page is KW rich there are getting top rankings. My rankings suck on Yahoo, apart from 'Holiday Homes' on Yahoo which brings in 5 uniques a month compared to Google which brings in 1,000 ish uniques per month!

    Not much difference, huh?

They would have to wouldnt they? I mean they arent going to show no snippet at all, as far as I know it goes in this heirarchy

Description from Yahoo Directory, if no listing default to meta desc, if no meta desc parse most relevant snippet
