Default Seaching real estate agents websites

Ok I am going to building a website soon and have some questions:

How do I add a page that allows people to see listings in the MLS?

Also how do I add a mortgage calculator?

Just need help so I can actually know what I am doing when I start on this project!

    Ashley,

MLS on your site: You can look into either an IDX or VOW solution to actually display MLS listings on your site (i.e. not framing another site). There are a lot of posts on this forum about those 2 solutions, and I recently inquired via a forum post what the number one lead generation tool was, and it was a unanimous vote for being able to search the MLS directly from your site.

Mortgage Calculators: I think there are many options there, either link out to a separate site, or do a search here, or on google for free mortgage calculators that you can host on your own site.

    Best of luck.

You can add a custom integrated MLS to your website or you can add a frame or iframe MLS page. Most MLSs, but all, provide both a framed approach and an IDX that you can download and integrate into your site. If you are a broker contact your local MLS and ask them what they offer, if you are an agent have your broker contact the MLS.

I have addititional information on MLS and IDX at http://cssdesignmagic.com/idx.html http://cssdesignmagic.com/idx2mls.html

If you are still considering what type of website to build look at: http://cssdesignmagic.com/open-realty.htm for infomation on a free realty web site suite.

Ashley6943, you might send Morgan (Webmaster) a PM about his real estate templates. To my knowledge they are search engine optimized and they blow the doors off most sites out there.

Point2 is a great starting point they are free and they will allow you to get your feet wet. I believe they may have a mort calculator built right in. Once you decide to go with a more expandable template or a custom go with something that is supported by php / mysql so that you can take advantage of all the open source toys out there - there are about a million open source mort calc's out there that you can customize to your needs, and you will find it will be much easier to find developers for php than windows or coldfusion.

    Ashley,

Point 2 provides a mortgage calculator, usually as a standard page called Calculator. You can frame-in an IDX search engine with the IDX content block. You just need to determine which IDX vendors have agreements with your local MLS.

Best of luck with your new site!

    Kathleen
