    Default HELLO from Connecticut......HELP!!!!

Hello to all from over here on the east coast!!!

I have NO REAL ESTATE experience whatsoever and have joined this forum to help me decide if a carrer in this field may/may not be the right one for me.

    Little about myself.......

Married with two children (7 & 9), Just bought a new home...YESTERDAY! I'm 36 and work on a vintage racecar team as a fabricator and crewmember. The reason for joining this forum is that my present job requires me to be away from my family for about 10 weeks (60-70 days) a year, and now after buying a home that I want to enjoy with my family...I'm having thoughts on a career change. I'm a TAKE CHARGE type of person who wants to run my own "OPERATION/BUSINESS" in the VERY near future and have a feeling that a career in REAL ESTATE may be a direction to study.

I'm use to working long hours (80+ per week while at race events) so I know that I have no problem working crazy hours!!!

I've seen (as I'm sure everyone else on here has) all the infomerticals for CARLTON SHEETS and the others.....is it worth while to get a program like that to "LEARN THE ROPES"?

Any help and DIRECTION would be great in this venture!!!!

    Thanks in advance!

Hello Tommy and Welcome to the forum.

Real Estate is definately an "OPERATION/BUSINESS" and needs to be treated as such. I think that many people entering the business miss this point and struggle and/or fail as a result.

Keep in mind that as an agent, even though you work for a Broker, you are in business for yourself. Like any business you need to generate leads, qualify and sell those leads, and then develop long-term relationships with as many of those leads as possible.

If you can do this better than your competition and enjoy doing it then the real estate business might be for you.

    Good Luck!

    Hello Tommy,

Are you interested in a career in real estate or real estate investing? There is a big difference.

To find out what a career in real estate is like you might consider talking with a few top producing agents or real estate brokers. Gaining a meeting with these folks is not as difficult as it sounds.

As a side note, if you can't get yourself to schedule appointments to talk with these people about real estate how hard do you think it will be for you schedule appointments to talk with prospects about real estate?
