I've heard that it's possible to get 1000s of hits within a few days of setting up a site. But how is that possible? Any views on this?![]()

My thoughts on the Sarasota Association of REALTORS actions.
And a big advertising budget.
There are other freak accident ways as well, such as getting "slashdotted" where your link is featured in an article read by millions of people in a popular newsletter or website.
Starting LEC 7 soon but it won't be called LEC 7 - LEC 2012 coming soon!
You can also purchase into programs that send you traffic, from what I've seen you can get hits but not relevant traffic.
Those types of services are typically not even real users just bot generated traffic, so you wont get any clicks or purchases either

I'll echo that, the services you join are also a lot of folks simply trying to drive hits/points to their sites by clicking on your link (which, in turn, gives them points or credits)....totally not worth the time.

Boston Real Estate - Providing Google Map based search of condo developments
Funny you should say that! I have very few recip links on my preconstruction condo website, so I was somewhat surprised when checking my backlinks on Google that there were a number of backlinks from sites I'd never heard of. When I followed the links, I found that most of them were financial websites or business related sites that had posted articles from my website on theirs. A bit of a cheek I guess, but they'd given me credit and a link to my site to boot.Originally Posted by webmaster
I can get more hits than my server can handle, but they are not qualified hits. Getting qualified traffic is the key and hard part and it takes more time than a few days. Don't go for the "one out of a 10,000 is bound to want what I offer" mistake! I'd much rather have a lower hit/response ratio than that!
hit - smitts.... go for sales..lol
Who cares if 1000s of people come to your site... if its all for links or something irrelevant....
