    Default Greetings from Singapore

    Hello everyone,

Have been referred here by SEO-GUY. Well I was asking him about raising my ranking on Google as I found that link exchange was difficult. So he referred me here. I just recently set up a web portal for Singapore property at www.dreamshelter.com.sg . Anyway, I hope to know more of you guys.

By the way, I was just wondering how do you guys actually build up the link popularity.

    Hard work.

We achieved No.1 for all search terms, with a mass of sites, with just one link, until March 12th., when several sites got zapped.

Some time after that we decided to join the club.

Have spent 400 hours since the last update in seeking links, and now wait for the next update to see the new PR, which should make it easier to get more links........and so on

400 hours ...that's too much ...Isn't it better to do some off-site marketing instead ?
Would it reap more benefits that way ?

    Welcome to the forum.

To build backlinks we solicit reciprocal links, submit articles, submit to real estate directories and just recently added a bulletin board to our website.

Rogerdan, first of all welcome to the forums. Second, it depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Most people here are not spending 400 hours building link exchanges in a very short time span. But, I am sure many people here have more hours than that overall, in building links. If your goal is to build your rankings in the SERPs for the long term, then getting links to your website with good anchor text is mandatory.

Good anchor text ? For one more, I thought anchor text in backlinks did not matter at all.

If I were to optimize my website for the keyphrase "Singapore property", does it mean that I need to have backlinks with anchor text "Singaopre property" to rise faster in Google search engines ?

RD, that is exactly what you need to do. Get on it.

Having links to your site with anchor text that you are optimizing for is key to your success. Having good rich text around that link is also a good thing.
