Great Things To Do In Nanaimo

I almost completely forgot - for those adventurous few looking for the most unique experience Nanaimo has to offer there is snorkeling with the seals! I have gone twice and it is a blast - seals really are the dogs of the sea! The snorkeling itself is beautiful and you can't help but laugh when you turn around in the water to discover a little following of adorable seal faces. http://www.divingbc.com/snorkel_package.htm

For any scuba divers in the crowd, I would be happy to take you for a dive. Nanaimo is consistently rated as one of the top dive destinations in the world and I know all the great spots.

For any one staying long enough to explore, I'd definitely recommend the drive west to Tofino.

Probably one of the best restaurants in Nanaimo is right downtown - Asteras - http://www.asteras.ca/index.html. They serve Greek cuisine like I've never tasted. The overall ambiance is part of the experience here, with friendly servers, and an open-air, Mediterranean decor. It's one of those places where you're still thinking about the meal, days later.
