    Default Registered Trademark Thingy

From what I understand the preferred way to write the word REALTOR® is like I just showed. All caps with the circle R trademark thing.

When I send others my link information and they blindly copy the text ... sometimes, it shows up as ® like is supposed to... sometimes it displays as ® or othertimes just a jumbled mess or some strange character. On my web page for it to display properly my html coding requires "®" .

What is the proper procedure for providing others my link information including the correct/preferred trademeark thing so that other can display it properly on their websites.

REALTOR® or REALTOR® ??? Or is there another way?

    Thanks

I would provide them with the exact code and the &reg - that way they can paste it into the page and when it shows online it should always be a ®.
Plus they really should notice something like that, they might be idiots....
(as I search around and wonder what my links to you looks like..lol)

    Satxproperty,

Are you sure you're using the REALTOR® mark properly in your signture and other materials?

You might consider checking the Membership Marks Manual; Section IV. Limitations on Use of the MARKS:
    D. Context of Use Limitation
    E. Form of Use Limitation

SanDiego got it right. I had to view the source to get it right and if I hadn't read this thread about the (R) I probably would have left it off too.

    how about having
Link to us using this code
<a href="http://www.satxproperty.com">Randy Watson and Roman Alfaro, REALTORS®</a> - COWBOY REALTORS - Homes and Ranches; San Antonio, TX real estate team. Search online over 8000 homes via
MLS to buy or sell investment, residential, commercial and retail property.
Serving South Texas and all of Bexar County. Se habla espanol. <a href="http://www.satxproperty.com/" target="_blank">
    http://www.satxproperty.com/</a>
    which will look like this
Randy Watson and Roman Alfaro, REALTORS® - COWBOY REALTORS - Homes and Ranches; San Antonio, TX real estate team. Search online over 8000 homes via MLS to buy or sell investment, residential, commercial and retail property. Serving South Texas and all of Bexar County. Se habla espanol. http://www.satxproperty.com/
That way I can cut and paste from the actual webpage.

I have spoken with Mary Newill MNewill@realtors.org at NAR's trademark affairs department many times as I used to use www.PhoenixRealtor.com as my domain. Since then, of course I have been 'enlightened' and have stopped using it. Mary allowed me to re-direct for six months, but then after that I had to park it. Well, DirectNIC dot com was using the parked domain for relevent search results, so I created a page to 'enlighten' the general public about our trademark and to keep directnic from gaining any benefit with my parked domain.

One thing I have learned from Mary is the use on the internet does not have to be capitolized, nor must it include the R w/cirlce around it after the word. I used to have it in my Meta title and even Google read it as &reg.

Also, Randy and Roman are using our trademarked word correctly in their signature. A member may use it before or after their name or company's name in a URL. And, may use it to identify themselves (as they are) in all advertising, letterhead, business cards, etc.

I ALSO talked to her recently on a few "San Diego" Realtor related sites I was making.. I dropped about three domains because I did not simply read the entire realtor contract and usage policy. Duhhhhh.... The one thing that REALLY pisses me of is that some other agents in SD are using the domain San Diego Realtor .com and it has a redirect on it (like Mary mentioned i might be able to do) but they get HUGE serps from it and I think it should be TOTALLY shut down. If I can't use it, why should anyone else???..... She simply does not understand the whole SEO part of it.... Non tech savvy Lawyers....... LOL HUH!
