How To Get More Activity To Face Book Fan Pages

What are you doing to get more activity to your FB fan pages?

Currently, I am adding my new listings, price reductions, and recently solds. I also add my blogs I do, but I am not having much luck with activity or comments on my page. I just recently created our fan page. I just uploaded some photos of our display homes. Then I also posted some updates or news related to real estate and home building.

You should post interesting content on your page, and not just those promoting your brand. Try to communicate with those who visit your site, and make friends with them even if you've never met them before. Try to build a good relationship with them. If they ask questions, find ways in which you can provide a good solution or give them a good response.

I have seen people doing a 365 things to do in "area" and posting something almost daily. These pages have shown to get a lot of activity, has anyone had any experience with those ideas? Seems like a lot of work to keep up with for a full year.

I think the whole social networking is about interacting with visitors and getting known by them as someone who is very knowledgeable in a certain area, or particular type of transaction.

I'm not sure about the daily posting, and I have asked quite a few that are active with the popular platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. Some use Twitter for very frequent tweets that are short, Facebook for fewer but more substantial content, and LinkedIn for professional contacts. Just a thought...

Personally, I don't think it is worth the time to devote too much time to a fan page... set one up, post listings, blog articles and worthy news stories.... Then move on to the other things much more efficient in getting paid for your time.

Like everything else that has come and gone... another fad. Important to have but not to spend all of your time on. I can pretty much guarantee you anybody who spends a significant amount of time on a Facebook Fan Page is not going to take over a market when it comes to actually closing deals.

Facebook Fan pages are definitely one of the hot things right now, but remember you don't OWN your fan page, FB is letting you use it. You're much better off figuring out how to build real equity in something you do own, such as (presumably) you're own site.

I think a better question for anyone running a fan page is not "How can I get more activity on my fan page," but "How can I get my fan page driving more traffic to my website?"

Hope the above didn't come off as too harsh. I'm actually a big fan of social media, but I've just seen so many Realtors neglecting their blogs and websites over the past couple of years, in favor of Facebook, Twitter, etc., etc. And I think long term (probably even short term) that that's a bad move. :-)
