Just keep your fan page updated and make sure to get the word out. Also, photos on fan pages are nice and videos are even better. Just try and keep it up to date.

dont post all business and real estate on your facebook page.. make sure you are engaging to the fans and other people to 'like' your page by tagging 'big' brands that are relevant to building a home, ie home depot, paint brands and try to cross promote with them so that their fans in turn like your page since you are talking about them... also 'share' other's posts and links

I agree with you on using Facebook to drive traffic to your website. It seems everyone is focused on having this huge fan base even if very few are actually interacting with the Realtor.
Some 2 cents of mine is that don't be all about real estate on your fan page. Give exposure to other local business, give real estate related tips like landscaping, and ask questions. Be more personal.
