Just wondering if anyone has any good companies that has experience in setting up a PPC campaign with adwords or yahoo? I heard there are a lot of mistakes that could cost a lot of money if not done right.

i recommend trying a campaign. Set a limit and that should protect your investment.
Thats not necessarily true, there are actually a lot of tricks to the trade. People pay different amounts of $/per click based on how their campaign is set up. For example if the keyword clicks through to a relevant page, you get credit and therefore your $/click will be much less than the person who sets up a keyword that goes to just any page that isn't really relevant.

what i'm trying to say is that you will learn by experience. sounds like you already have an idea of what needs to be done. i recommend starting a campaign and assign pages and keywords that are relevant.
Hi Mark!
I started my own PPC campaign, and it's really not that difficult to do. Sure there may be little tricks here and there, but you can do it yourself and save the 25% you would pay a PPC company. You can google PPC tricks and learn on your own. You can learn anything you want by searching Google, and you should know this already!! That's why your here at REW, to learn yourself!
Here's what I have learned about PPC so far:
Don't try to outbid everyone, rather make sure your landing page is exactly what you want people to land on, and increase your Quality Score and conversion.
If you have a REW site this should be easy for you to do. Put a little bit of text at the top of your landing page, put some listings for the area, and than more text on the bottom. Gerry did a great job of explaining that here: http://www.realestatewebmasters.com/...sen/7777/show/
Also, I found Keyword insertion in my Adwords account raised my click through rate a ton. You can see how to do that here: http://adwords.google.com/support/aw...n&answer=74996
Keyword Insertion will match the keywords that people put in the search box to your ad, it's great!. For example, my keyword "Logan Utah Real Estate" has different searches. Such as Logan UT Real Estate, Logan Real Estate, and so forth. By using the keyword insertion, the keyword that is displayed matches exactly what a searcher is looking for. They see the exact match, and will click your ad over another ad.
This can backfire though. If the page you rank for has every ad saying the same thing "Logan Utah Real Estate," you may need to find a way to make your ad look unique in order to get more clicks. If your ad looks a little different, people may click your ad because it stands out. Instead of "City State Real Estate" try "Search City Real Estate."
All of this is stuff I learned by searching Google, and doing my own research. I know you can do it just the same. Plus, saving that extra 25% by not paying a third party company gives you a little lee way to play around with it. And keep in mind, you need to test, test, test!!!! Try different ad's, different keyword combinations, and adjust your landing pages. It's actually pretty fun to do if you get into it.Hope that helps!

Hi There Mark!
There is truth with what tricks of the trade Lisa has learned, they are in fact, good practices! However, there is much much more to it than that, as it sounds like you are well aware of. This is why PPC companies exist, because 1) It takes a HUGE time investment to even learn, 2) Monetary investment to learn as you go, 3) On-going time investment to Optimize the account such as making sure you have your Ad's and keywords are in tight niche groups called Ad Groups, know when to change your ads and WHAT to change and so forth, a company I work with blew 100K per month sending ALL clicks to the WRONG landing pages, 4) Did you know there are things you could do wrong that unknowingly violate Google's rules, they catch you and shut down your account? Please Google "What is a Google Slap"... I could go on all day...
Here is an article I recommend you check out about hiring a PPC Company vs. DIY... http://www.clickhereonlinemarketing....s-a-good-idea/
IMO - Some things like PPC are better not to DIY. If you REALLY want to get the most out of it, look at it as an investment and talk to a company or someone who is (obsessively) passionate about PPC who understand how it works BEFORE you start paying for clicks. This is how you are ensuring your success, not failure. It's best to be highly skilled and proficient.
Here are a few questions to ask:
Do PPC Companies charge well for their services? You bet ya! All PPC Companies pricing is very competitive, specially right now. Finding someone good to work with is difficult.
Do you lose money when you DIY a campaign? Do I need to mention to Company's example I gave earlier?
Do you want to spend your time learning how to make AdWords work better? No Way!
Can a PPC company meet you ROI desires? You bet ya! They crunch all kinds of number and figures before hand to see what they are up against and able to achieve.
Yes some lots of people are doing AdWords themselves. I'm happy that it works for those that are able to do it themselves, but there are 100x more people that just lose money, time and total faith in the product and that is what I try to prevent from happening.
I know it was some time ago that you posted this up, but if you are wanting to talk to someone about PPC Management feel free to PM me anytime :^)
Thanks,
Darren
Instead of PPC try PPV via Traffic Vance or Media Traffic. There is less competition and you can target by keyword or domain.

Hey Artur,
Great point! PPV is actually really good and for anyone doing affiliate marketing I highly recommend it! However, if you do Google AdWords and PPV you will get Google slapped and a suspended AdWords account. They consider it 'Ad Spam Techniques' according to their guidelines & policies.

Mark,
Aaron Wall has a great site/blog on ppc http://ppcblog.com/blog/.
Your correct that there are several factors in setting up a Great PPC Campaign. One little trick is to really drill down on your keywords. For instance often time even if you just choose Detroit real estate you'll obtain clicks for real estate.
You can see actual clicks by going to your campaigns, then clicking on:
keywords Tab
See search terms
click all
Here you'll see keywords that are actually being clicked, ofter times they are key terms that were never entered. So here you'll just exclude those keywords from future clicks/impressions.
Also Quality Score is very important - the higher your Quality Score, the lower your costs and the better your ad position.
I don't know much about PPC, however you know you can call me anytime and I'll give you my 2 cents.
