Default Why visitors from Yahoo & not Google?

    Hello,

I guess I am taking full advantage of this forum while I can.

I checked my site statistics today and noticed that when I was paying for Overture I was getting traffic and actual leads through Yahoo for terms such as "Temecula Mortgage", "Temecula Mortgage Company", & "Temecula Mortgage Companies". After I achieved #3 placement on Google and #15 or so on Yahoo for "Temecula Mortgage Company" I #8 on Google for "Temecula Mortgage" I quit using Overture and I have received absolutely no traffic, not even 1 click, as a results of this placement. I am really puzzled as to why this is. Can anyone offer any feedback?

There is a big difference between your #1,2,3 sponsored positions in yahoo and your #15 SERP. From my experience with such targeted keywords, people dont scroll through and ignore ads as much when they are looking for a product/service. They want to be sold, and quick. Anybody who types in your keywords are most likely in the market, and when they see their exact search keywords at #1, they will click it.

I have also noticed that with product/service related searches, every position counts. In any competitive market, there is going to be plenty of credible companies seeking those spots. Credible enough that most customers wont go as far as #15 before finding plenty of numbers to call and information selling them on your competition. I would go back to paid placement, its a simple marketing model, just calculate ROI and throw as much money into it as possible to maximize leads. Keep up the SEO effort as well, but remember that those paid advertisements will always be ahead of you in the case of Overture's customers, rather than next to you in the case of google adWords.

I appreciate your feedback and it completely makes sense. But what about the case of Google, where I rank #3 & #7 for "Temecula Mrtgage Company" & "Temecula Mortgage"?

I used to rank #3 through Overture on Yahoo, and Now rank #3 on Google through SERP. I am thinking that maybe that types of clientele for mortgage might be more apt to be using Yahoo or MSN rather than Google, as it is more of a tech favored engine.
