Default Whut is up with Yahoo's SERPs?

To make a long story short, our website was not in the first 10 pages of results for the first 8 months of this year. Then we appeared at #6 for a couple of weeks. Then we moved to #21 for a solid month. Now, we dropped back out of the first 10 pages of results...whut in the fubar is going on?

Yhoo rolled out an update a little over a week ago. This is probably the next phase of that update.

I'll tell you what, I cannot keep up with all of the updates for all 3 SE's I suppose that I will continue to worry about G and just let Y just catch up...

    Default Fubar

Thanks for the chuckle Grant. I haven't heard anyone use FUBAR in years. Good luck with Yahoo.

I think optimizing for Yahoo! will drive you nuts. Best you can do is "hope it hits"

Mike, I used to consider myself an "expert" in yahoo optimization everything was #1 but nowadays I am more inclined to agree with your comment. I have NO idea what they are thinking sometimes (REW homepage ranking #1 for "minneapolis real estate without mentioning it or having any anchor text to it for instance)

Now we have been lucky many of our clients are on the first page if not the top 3 spots for our main target terms, but I honestly couldnt tell you why those clients of ours that dont rank well, dont.. They have the same SEO, some are newer, some are older etc so yeah the hope it hits is a much less stressful approach.

I mean shoot I am on hte first page of yahoo for keywords like "online degrees" and "online education" with a site that I never even touch GO FIGURE! - not complaining, just saying that yahoo does not make a lot of logical sense right now.

You know what is weird with Yahoo. Earlier this year I finally got out of the sandbox with Google (as I see you have with your #1 in Google for Nashville real estate), and my Yahoo rankings dropped immediately. Just be glad Google is ranking you high. That is really all that matters. The Jagger update has put a damper on my unique visits, but for some reason MSN and Yahoo are sending me almost as much traffic as Google was when I was dominating. I have no freaking idea what is up.

The other day somebody called Yahoo! Google's younger brother who suffers from Attention deficit disorder. Yahoo! is trying to catch up and imitate his older brother and only looks silly trying to do so. msn is another kid in the neighborhood a litttle younger than Yahoo! doing his own thing and Yahoo! is trying to impress him, because he has this smart older brother, yet msn sees thru it and isn't impressed. Anyways, just a meaningless comment I've had to share
