Is getting confusing! I've read in this forum in other threads, not this one, that 301 re-directs don't hurt your rankings, but 302's will.
On speeding up new sites to come under the notice of SE's, SEO consultants advise it is money well spent for the first month only (too expensive to maintain), to purchase a few key words and pay per click.
I see you cringe! But it is not at all bad and can be all good, if you know which cheap words to buy. The idea is to purchase relevant keywords which are not at all competitive, such as your suburb, district, or regional area names which are specific to your market area. These have huge ranking power because there is no competition for them. You can find reports in any SEO discussion giving excellent results with doing this. It is a good 'kickstart' tactic and gets your site on its way.
