    Default Hello from New York

    Hello all,
Came across this forum a couple of weeks ago and have found it to be a great source of valuable information and advice. I wish however that I had found it sooner as I had recently purchased a "website in a can" of which it's pages (except the homepage) are framed. Reading some recent threads in this forum, I've since found out how these pages are not compatible with good search engine positioning and link exchanges. It sounded like a great affordable offer at the time which fit perfectly into my budget, but now I have to chalk that poor decision to a newbie mistake. I had already started a reciprocal link exchange with other related websites from one of these framed pages which I just found out are worthless to those I exchanged links with. I've since added those links to my homepage which appears to be indexed in Google and is not framed. It doesn't look good, but for now it will have to do until I can come up with another solution.
I look forward to participating on this board and will try and contribute wherever I can however I think I'll benefit much more from others on this board that they will benefit from my limited knowledge.

    Hi HMiller,

Welcome to the forums! You'll find a lot of helpful tips and information here.

Don't be so quick to knock framed sites. I know it is difficult to get PR to the framed pages, but it can be done. PM me for examples.

Not to mention, for the money, my framed site is doing very well. Search Google for Phoenix Real Estate and you'll find my framed site, www.PhoenixHomes.com in the #2 postion organically. Not to mention the #1 spot is a framed site as well and she has been there for as long as I can remember.

As for BL's (back links), yes many have indicated that they are unwilling to exchange with framed sites. But, many framed interior pages are indexed, I have over 200 indexed by Google.

So, for now, and for the money, it appears to be a good investment! As for the future, well maybe custom sites will be the only way to compete, or maybe our framed site providers will improve to meet the future challenges. All I can say for sure is that #1 and 2 for my KW's are inexpensive framed sites, though keep an eye on the boss (SEO-Guy), he is working for a Phoenix realtor and that site is rising in the SERP's quite rapidly (congrat's Morgan! ).

Look forward to seeing your posts and typing to you.

    Enjoy your stay here!

If you are truly worried about the framed stuff as long as you control your own hosting then you could easily have the site I see in your sig put into static pages in less then a day by any real webmaster, might cost you a few hundred but not all framed sites are as good as AA sites

    Patti, Matthew and Webmaster,
Thanks for the welcome and the info. I don't have control over the hosting but I spoke with someone in tech support at the company who created the template site and apparently they can edit the code to make my reciprocal links page a static page. It's probably something I can do on my end through the html editor on my control panel but I just dont have the knowledge so I'll leave it to them.
    Thanks again.

    Hi HMiller,

You are welcome for the welcome!

One thing is for sure, you are here on this forum, so you must have a desire to learn. Learn a thing or two and that nasty old HTML editor won't scare you a bit. As a matter of fact, you'll realize it is probably like using Microsoft Word. Most of these template companies have a version of an HTML creator that is really that simple to use. Ask your cutomer support for a walk through.

Once you get a taste of the "tricks of the trade" though, you might want to take SEO-guys offer and get a pure HTML site. Especially before you get in too deep. Less pages of original content to transfer = less cost to do it.

Thanks for the compliment Morgan, I love my AA site! And it is true, there are not any others out there as good as what AA puts out.

Now, if I could only get some help making my links pages obtain PR...

Come over to this thread and play....

Hey Morgan, haven't seen you on that thread recently... any input?

Good luck out there and keep on learning, you'll be amazed at how much income you can generate with a good website!
