Hi. Can somebody please list in order of popularity search enginees apart from Google MSn and yahoo
I don't actually have a list of the popularity, but I can say those three are more than enough to worry about. And most other search engines actually use the main three search engines to generate there results.
You are right jason, Google and yahoo sends more traffic than MSN. one of my site is at #3 in msn and #24 in google and receiving more than 200% traffic than MSNOriginally Posted by SEO Jason
As of now I would say that the big 3 are the only ones that you need to worry about. I can't even give you one other SE that has given me any traffic in the last 30 days.

Yeah, it's almost laughable that anyone else would even try to start a search engine...I've been submitting some sites to search engines of late but it's kind of just like out of habit...to bother with the others is a flagrant violation of the 80/20 rule!

Don't bet on that. I would put money on the fact that a new engine could take over at some point down the road. Msn and Yahoo both have had a corporate image for some time (not a good thing in search). Now Google has a growing number of people that see the monster that has been growing and they are starting to question if it's a good thing. Bigger they are the harder they fall will be the case with Google IMO, just a matter of when.Originally Posted by sebfrey
Sure...a long ways down the road. And I don't think it will be any of Google's, Yahoo's, or MSN's current competitors, e.g. A9. It'll have to be another couple of wunderkinder backed by a latter-day Andy Bechtolsheim, but honestly I think it'll be a while before we see the likes of such an auspicious combination usurping Google.

Thought this article was interesting and then also this forum thread. They both point towards msn's increase in search numbers as of late.
Don't you think that MSN is going to be a huge compatitor to G and Yahoo as soon as Windows Vista / IE7 is officially available? Although you can choose any search engine as the default, MSN is the default on any freshly installed Vista. I personally don't like or use MSN much, but for the avg. user who just bought a computer with Vista as an OS what do you think he or she will do?
