Success with reciprocals only?

I want to know who out there has made it to the top of Google with a reciprocal only link campaign?

My main competition does not have any reciprocal links so I am wondering how many reciprocal links I will need to match their more powerful one-way links.

I am still in “sandbox” mode right now – hope to come out next month.

recips are fine. I am not sure why, but people have propogated the idea that reciprocal links do not work. They do, period. The two biggest one way links you are most likely going to be able to get are from Yahoo and DMOZ. Plus, with DMOZ you will be in the "Google Directory". Aside from that, picking up one way links are great, but recips will be great as well. Try to find free directories that you can submit to as well. I believe someone posted one here at some point, or you can check out places like SEO Guy or SEO Chat.

I notice your San Diego site has 127 backlinks shown on Google.

The majority of those links are from your forum posts.

Do you find that the forum posts help you at all?

well, back before the end of June update, you did not see any of the posts as BL's. G has decided (or it appears they have decided) that they are going to change what the link: operator show us. Not sure why this is (keep SEO's from getting too much info, change in algo, ?). The sigs will help with visits from bots (very important) and to help other people in the community to see what you are up to.

Hmm, interesting thought about a recip-only campaign. IMHO, it's easy enough to get "one-way links", even if you have to pay for some of them. Yahoo, Dmoz (hope nobody's paying there), joeant.com, various RE directories, etc.
