    Default Internal Linking

    Question for you all. I thought I had lots of internal linking on my site cuz I am linking to my other pages. I am using Front Page and and when I ran my page thru a tool it said my links that look like this were external links:

    <a href="http://www.lipplyrealestate.com/dunedin-parks-beaches.php">

    but when I changed it to this:

    <a href="dunedin-parks-beaches.php">
    the tool called it an internal link.

    Did I mess up when using Front Page? I need to change all these don't I?

    It doesn't matter really, just a little less bandwidth for the relative url. I'd stop listening to the tool though and if you can get comfortable with dreamweaver it's alot more robust and generates cleaner code.

    I believe Matt Cutts commented on this in at webmasterworld.com and said something to the effect to use full urls to insure that the search engines do confuse them.

    Thanks for pointing it out it should read "do NOT confuse them."

    I tried to find the thread at webmasterworld but they don't have appear to have a good search facility.

    Dont bloat your code with adding the URL in front of it, instead just source from root ie put a "/" in front of the filename or /folder/ if the file is in a folder. That way it sources back to root and traces down.

    I found the webmasterworld thread that I mention above. It wasn't Matt Cutts, it was the GoogleGuy -- "GoogleGuy Posts"
