We all here use REW obviously, I guess many of use use also Active Rain. What about other networks? Brokeragentsocial for example? Does it make any sense to be active on several networks?

I use active Rain as well. The answer to your question is that it couldn't hurt to be active in as many communities as possible. If you have the time and resources to do so.
You cannot do everything and I think that it is best to focus you efforts. If not you'll spend your entire day online discussing real estate with other agents and brokers but not meet a single client.
ActiveRain is probably most well known real estate focused social media site. Facebook, Twiiter and LinkedIn are our primary social media forums. As others have noted, engaging in social media channels where your customers (not other real estate agents) are is most effective.
I dont know about Active Rain. Im still skeptical about it yet they certainly do push their advertising and upgrading on me.

I'm on RealEstateForum.com and BrokerAgentSocial.com. REF is definitely the most interactive. LOTS of discussion going on there. Not so much discussion on BAS, however. People don't post daily, so the discussion isn't very fast paced and dwindles quickly. Both are great sites though. Not a fan of Active Rain...
i'm on RealEstateForum too, but it seems there are many responses that have nothing to do with the subject. Maybe people are just trying to hit their post limit for do follow, it's only 10. I now see the value in the 300 limit here, although I'm not there yet.

In the past I would post closed sales information each week on AR and the pages got decent rank from Google for the particular search term I was trying to promote. The search terms were the names of the towns I worked in + real estate, homes, houses, etc. That's when active rain was all free. When they began charging for the blogs, it wasn't as effective for some reason and I stopped posting on AR.
