Default Lost G cached pages? Need insight & help!

    Hey everyone,

I just got back to work today from my holiday break and am totally freaked out as to what I am seeing with Google and my site. Pages that have been cached for well over thirty days are no longer showing as cached? It seems to have happened to about half my resource pages and a third of my content pages. I also no longer have PR for any pages on my site. I was on the site on Monday with a client in St. Pete and everything was fine at that time.

Has anyone else seen this type of thing lately?

Thanks for any help/thoughts you can give!

I've written about this recently. All of my resource pages have been cached since the lst time they were originally cached which was pretty quickly after the site was created. Never lost it until recently. I still have PR on them, though and they are indexed, just not cached. We recently added a Google sitemap & some have been recached, but not all yet, & I get spidered regularly.

Another thing I did just yesterday was put my Resource link in my footer instead of just on the home page. Now the link will be on every page. I hope with these 2 changes I'll get all of these pages cached again.

However, I've read about others having this problem with losing cache & PR & it seems they've lost any kind of Google index on these pages, too. Although I'm not 100% sure about my pages, I think it happened during my site transfer (Cook County site) from my prior host to REW. I believe I was working on or changed my Resources page at one point & I think that's what happened.

So for those that didn't make changes & this just occurred I guess you'll have to wait & see if it corrects itself.

Money Magazine says that Orland Park real estate is one of the best places to live in the U.S. Check out Homer Glen homes if you're interested in living in the newest Chicago suburb. Next door, Lemont homes are the priciest in the southwest suburbs and have held their value, even appreciating while prices in other areas have gone down.

    Hey Judy,

Thanks for your thoughts on this. After freaking for about 30 minutes, I calmed down and dug out the web address for the tool kit at mainstreamwebmasters.com. On checking, it appears the problem is only on one datacenter and the tool bar. All other centers show as normal for both cache and PR. While it doesn't answer the question why, it gives me hope it will shake itself out. It sure screws up your link exchange requests though!

I got a request for your Cook County site yesterday. I'll get to it tonite.

    Thanks much.

That was a great idea...not only for enhancing the value of your links pages and making them more attractive to link hunters, which is going to bring more links your way. It also makes that section of your web site appear as part of the site and not a remote area only accessible from the home page. Keep us posted!

It was one of those things I was meaning to do anyway but waited until I was forced to because of recent cache problems. As Benjamin said, for those not understanding (my pages are still indexed at least, or were last time I checked) it makes requesting link exchanges pretty much impossible.
