I was surprised to read a post at DP where a webmaster had purchased a high PR link and din't know that sites can fake PR. The toolbar PR can be faked and if you would like more information and how to tell if a site is faking their PR you can read about it here.

Hope this saves someone a little money and keeps a little out of the cheats pockets .

The ones that uses cloaking/redirect to show another sites PR in the toolbar would be pretty hard to catch on the search engine side. Found a site that is selling links on DP that claims to be a PR5 page, it really has no PR or backlinks. Buyer beware.

Google has been consistent in their message that buying links and other 'non-natural' linking schemes will not help, yet so few people seem to understand their simple message and continue to waste time, effort and money in pursuit of the elusive top SERP. It reminds me of an addiction where addicts continue to chase the high after repeated failures and setbacks to attain it.

PR means diddly squat. It doesnt mean that a site is quality. Better to spend time on your site actual, good optimisation still works the best for positioning.

Someone had pointed this put to me today, this site shows (www . pr10.darkseoteam . com) as a PR10 and it isn't. They fake the toolbar PR so this tool isn't accurate. Same goes for http://www.prchecker.info/check_page_rank.php, they both just read the toolbar info and not the real PR. The PR checker listed in my post seems to be the best that I have found so far.
