My site is just about a week and a half over 6 months old. Just yesterday my site hit Yahoo's front page for my KW. I have also been sitting in the 190-200's in Googles serps until yesterday I shot to number 42. So my site is conforming to the six month sandbox idea. I think I am finally breaking away.....whew whoo !

Congtratulations Jim! What I saw was that they'd steadily improve for about 3 weeks and then stay at 20 so for awhile. Hopefully your ride will be a bit smoother.

And alot of things have changed since then.

Thanks VRI. It's been a long ride. I started a year ago on a different URL that was thrown out of G because of a problem I had with a link partners linking program. So I had to start over from scratch, again, in August. So I am stoked!

I checked my rankings this morning and i noticed i moved up even higher in the rankings. I now have a lot of number one rankings, for my toughest one "boulder real estate" i moved from #8 to #5 today.

I just think it takes 6 months for your links to mature on Google before they "count" towards your rankings.

Last month I ran a link test on one of our Mobile Homes sites. That site had not ranked well over the last two (2) years for the term "Mobile Homes."

Without making any changes other than adding backlinks [anchor text: mobile homes] the page has climbed and held steady at the top of Google's SERPs.

One conclusion from the test... new links [less than 6 months old] can count towards rankings.

I have heard some people saying that this 6 month filter only applies to terms with "real estate" in them. Makes sense, because my Boise Idaho Realtors site hit the top of the serps in only about 2 months. I don't know though, this is just what "I heard". We all know how that goes. There does seem to be something magic about 6 months though.

I used to get 5 Google referrals a day, now I get 60. Of those 60 only a small portion of phrase contain "real estate".
