    Default New Adware scam

First off whatever happened to adding a general chat section? Guess this will do for this one.

Ok, there is a company calling agents offering free VO IP service, phone over the interent, in their demo they have you download some software. This software is adware and will add an ad to the top of your searches. They argued that it isn't adware and they kept saying that they have a microsoft certificate...sorry but a spade is a spade.

So if you get directed to simplyvoice dot com do not download ANYTHING.

I asked for the tech person that was supposed to explain how this could help my business "how to remove your adware" and he argued that it wasn't adware, then I said "fine how do I remove your software". He said that he would help me with that and could I hold for one second? He hung up on me...jerk.

Anyways beware that this is yet another adware scam and do not fall for the trick.

Do you still have it on your computer? Try using this to uninstall. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/myuninst.html
I don't even use the lame Microsoft uninstall feature.

I just did a system restore and that took care of it. That is about the easiest way to get rid of any nasty stuff you pick up. I set a restore point every morning so it isn't a big deal to go backwords.

I'm happy for you -- that it worked.

But, all should know that an XP restore may well restore a system state which is also infected with malware.

Nothing beats regular backups and daily virus scans.

Agree; virus, adware, and spyware scans are done every morning while I do other things that don't require the computer. Then I set the restore point and backup all critical data.

I have to agree. Better to use 3rd party stuff to fix it than rely on Microshaft to do it. I miss the good old days when you could actually trust software you dl'd to not be spy/mal/ad ware......
