Thread: Need to be able to list my own properties on my website without going through the MLS

Default Need to be able to list my own properties on my website without going through the MLS

When I had my site designed, I was under the impression that when I entered a new listing it would go into the listing results .. and that I could feature the listing by entering it into the "manage listings / add listing" feature ... I thought that it would go into my listing database

    http://www.condosetc.com/idx/cms/13/details.html

However, it does not show up in the results .. and you advise how I do that? Thank you.

    Hello,

So you'd like to have these manually added listings somehow merged with the IDX listings? That's no easy task.
Can you not enter the listing into the MLS?

Aaron .. why would I have gone to the expense to have that feature built in in the first place if if I didn't want them included in the listings without entering them into the MLS? Why would I have "add a listing" with information that you upload if it was not going into the website? What is the point of "add a listing" - where was that informatio supposed to go? In fact some MLS' don't even have rental listings.

I'm not sure what feature you had built that you mention.
The "Add Listing" feature of the website will put the listing on the website.
You can display them on a page using the #cms-listings# snippet.
The CARETS feed does have rentals. Most people use this feature for, if they don't have an IDX on their site and want to list some properties, or they have a "pocket listing" ....

Aaron .. I want to diplay my pocket listings. I went in added the listing .. which is here .. http://www.condosetc.com/idx/cms/13/details.html

Now I want to add it to my featured listings - have it show up in the search results and create a craigslist posting from the craigslist tool.

I have alot of clients already looking for rentals so I don't want to add it into the MLS .. that is why I wanted the features on my website to add my own listings that were not in the MLS ..

Also on the "add a listing" the Square footage doesn't display properly ..

CMS listings can be used in the craigslist tool. As far as:

Now I want to add it to my featured listings - have it show up in the search results
    - Which page is your featured listings?
    - Having it show up in the search results ( mixed in with the MLS listings ) - may not be permitted due to compliance ( we'd have to check with your MLS board) - then it would require quite a bit of work to get the 2 data sets to mix. Likely about 14hrs programming.

    Thank you,

First of all I don't know how to use the #cms-listings# snippet - I just have not spent time on that ..

My featured listings are displayed from an MLS Number directly from the MLS .. I don't understand how that interacts with the featured listings tab .. I was of the impression that when we added a listing, we could create a unique number that we assigned it to know that it was not in the MLS - I would like to have all my historical transactions in there as well.

I wanted my pocket listings to also show up on the building database, in the featured listings and also be able to create a craigslist ad ..

I don't know that it matters so much that they are in the IDX database at this point if they show up on my featureds -

I have a bunch of work that I have been waiting to do all at once .. I had been waiting for your new release .. but the back end really doesn't need what I want it to do for me ..

In the meantime, how can I accomplish this task of getting my pocket listing to show up in both featured listings (which feeds my billboard ads) and so that I can make my craigslist posting?

For the featured listings snippet #cms-listings# - you just place that "code" onto the page: #cms-listings#

The listings do show up in the craigslist tool. But, these "Featured listings" you refer to. is that the one on this page:
http://www.condosetc.com/backend/listings/featured.php Where you add them in by MLS number?

We could make it so that you can select from CMS listings there, and it will be in the "featured listings" - it would likely take about 3-4hrs programming to make that happen.

    Thank you,
