    Unhappy Google and new sites

For 5 seconds I thought, maybe my techniques dont work anymore? I built www.jimmessenger.com and brought it to a PR 6 in 2 months, but it wouldnt even rank for "Jim Messenger" made me think, hmmmm could I not have a grasp on this whole Geo Targeting? NAH! Must be something else, so I built a test page for "Jim Messenger" and "Phoenix Realtor" on my own site (Page located at http://www.seo-guy.com/jim-messenger.html) and guess what, within 2 days of posting it I was on the first page for both in Google, using the exact techniques that I used to create the site itself.

What does this tell me? That a site that has new optimization efforts lots of backlinks and updated content in a short period of time is placed on a delay of some sort, what kind I don't know. How long? I don't know but its certainly holding true for some other testing domains as well.

I am looking for some suggestions or workarounds if anyone has any experience with this and it would be greatly appreciated (Free site design appreciated if you come up with a viable solution)

    Here are some site stats:
    Pages in Google: 176
    Backlinks showing in Google: 2060
    Google Pagerank: 6
    allinanchorhoenix real estate #6
Approximitly 50% of all 2000+ backlinks come from real estate related websites (Many from members here thank you :0)
KW density:Tried everything from high to low, usual tricks using h1 tags, kw in title, alt tag outbound links all that jazz

So whats the deal? How come I can rank my SEO site in 2 days for "Phoenix realtor" which is completely irrelevant and not rank a site 100% dedicated to phoenix realtor?

    Hi seo-guy,
I wish I had something insiteful to humbly impart on you I was having an anurism with similar but not identical issues with a new site. After first launch was ranking incredibly for most major terms within 2 weeks on google but nadda on Yahoo. It got so bad I dumped a bunch of pages and replaced them with new ones when I got tired of scratching my head. Now the tides have completely turned. The sites doing so well on yahoo and the other Inks that I'm afraid to touch it Is it me or is it getting damn near impossible to get sites to do well on the big 2 at the same time

Default I found it for Jim Messenger #4

    Hi SEO Guy,

I must look into this geo-targetting thing I've been hearing about, but I've noticed that I see zip (SERPS) for Phoenix Realtor, while I see #4 for Jim Messenger.

    I'm in Australia.

You've managed to rank for Jim Messenger, so what did you do to improve things ?

Hi Folks, Thanks for following our test. We have had a slight delay while Seo-Guy is changing his site around. The test page lost its cache, should be back up in the next day or so.

It has been interesting watching this page in the serps. I found it ranked for terms like Phoenix lofts (which had only one mention on the page) in less than 24hrs.

I think Morgan might be correct about the time delay. I am now starting to see some movement for Phoenix Realtor, Phoenix MLS, Phoenix Real Estate, and yes now I rank #4 for my name. We went from nowhere in the top 10,000 to top 150 for the most part.

I know being ranked 135 for a keyword is nothing to get excited about, but at least we are now in the index, and moving!

We are experimenting with another theory with a twist on link popularity/domain popularity. More to come...Stay tuned!

John, We put Jim Messenger in the title. However, I think "time" had more to do with it. We have started to show up for several terms. They are low rankings, but they are there.

    Default Moving up!

We have moved up to the second page for several of my search terms during the past week. We are even in the top 10 for a couple of terms like Phoenix Real Estate Agent and Phoenix Realtor

Thanks goes to Morgan for the expert SEO!
