    Default External links

I am looking to start adding links to the chamber of commerce websites for my areas. What is the best way to do this? Is it done as an external link under the sub navigation? Should I make it a link from within that area page? I hate to clutter up my navigation menu.

    Thanks, Ethan Swiger

Definitely don't put it in your main navigation if that's what you meant. Most have a page for area resources, schools etc. I'd just put it there.

The way my real estate market is set up I service 5 surrounding cities, so I would like to include seperate school info etc. for each city. Are you saying to create a sub page for each city and call it XXXXX area resources? Or should I just put in on the city page since there are only a couple links. Do I do an external link or hyper link? not sure the difference? Will either way keep the viewer within my site by just importing the other site?

    Thanks, Ethan Swiger

Make the 5 cities you service main links in your nav bar with each city link going to a seperate page that you create for each city. Within each one of those city pages you can add links for schools, city government etc...just make them open in a new window.

Use this REW site as an example: Oak Lawn Illinois Real Estate. I actually work in over 40 different towns but the Oak Lawn site brings it down another notch to the area I live in.

This is a new site and I'm adding content daily. I plan on creating even more pages for each individual town but I will create links from the individual town pages, not the nav menu.
Money Magazine says that Orland Park real estate is one of the best places to live in the U.S. Check out Homer Glen homes if you're interested in living in the newest Chicago suburb. Next door, Lemont homes are the priciest in the southwest suburbs and have held their value, even appreciating while prices in other areas have gone down.

Well, I would have a unique page of resources and information for each city but I would have that resource page linked from your "houses in Marietta" page or what ever I wouldn't put them in the main navigation or on the listings page itself.

What you do in the CMS is make it an external sub navigation link - that way its only in the nav, when you are in the city category, alternately you can put it right in the content, Example http://www.scottsellsaz.com/apache-j...eal-estate.php Scroll down to the bottom, we put links to both the chamber site and the city site, they both open in a new window
    Code:
    <a href="http://www.domain.com" target="_blank">Anchor Text</a>
Starting LEC 7 soon but it won't be called LEC 7 - LEC 2012 coming soon!
