Design Help Please

Hello,

I am redesigning/editing a website in CMS and have run into a few problems. I am currently learning and applying basic skills in html and Dreamweaver MX 2004. Please give some advice and/or help in layman's terms with the following issues:

How to upload images into CMS so that they retain the same size and format as they did when created in Dreamweaver MX 2004.

How to make a single MLS image, out of a group of images, the default so it shows up as a thumbnail on the listings page.

How to extend the footer length on Main Page of CMS so I can include more text than what is currently allowed. It lets me edit and apply changes, but does not show full text when previewed in browser.

How to make the background the same color on all of the pages. I must have done something wrong because homepage is now different from all of the others. I need all pages to have a uniformed white background.
