Question Can anyone recommend some good e-mail campaign software?

I'm looking for something that could do scheduled mailing to a growing list of 2000 potential clients. An opt in opt out feature is almost mandatory.

    Any suggestions?

I use groupmail 5. It has all the features you've asked for and then some.

    Good luck.

    Hands down: http://CampaignMonitor.com

With the extensive reporting and flawless functionality... others have no advantage. I've used them all and have even built my own... but CM is the best.

...and FYI... an "unsubscribe" or opt-out is very manditory. Without it, technically you're considered spam

Before anyone begins an email campaign I suggest you read the text of the 2003 Federal CAN-SPAM Act. Each violation is subject to an $11,000.00 fine

    http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/canspam.htm

The reasons I know about this is that I got extremely irritated by being constantly bombarded with Unsolicited Commerical Email from other Arizona Realtors who had obviously gleaned my email from the ARMLS database. Opting out didn't seem to work but when I began forwarding each SPAM to the FTC Complaint divison along with a description of what specifially in the email constituted a violation of Federal Law and CC'd the original sender as well as the Server's Technical Contact, the SPAM machine seems to have come to a grinding halt.

Moral of this story if you are going to use SPAM (don't bother trying to use a "professional" term call it what it is SPAM), at least have the decency to make sure your server allows for a clean opt out that "WORKS" also as the originator you must clearly state the email is from YOU and you must include YOUR CURRENT and VALID Physical Address. Also make sure you are not violating your ISPs TOS as many ISPs will boot you for sending "Unsolicited Commercial Email" even if you are using someone elses mail server to do it.

I hate it when people refer to spam as a "campaign". If it isnt a closed loop double opt in, its spam.

For my clients that I've met and have informed me that they want to buy/sell real estate in the future, I add them to automated action plans from my Top Producer 7i software. It will automatically email them with templates that I can setup, however many times I want.

It will also include an unsubscribe link on all emails just in case.

I can help you find houses for sale in Houston and also write at this blog dedicated to real estate technology for agents. I originally created this Houston Real Estate site and switched to REW - awesome decision.

Aweber blows them all away. And at $19 a month, you'll wonder why you didn't discover it 5 years ago. We love using it.

If you want DIY and free, and can run it on your hosting server, try PHPList. It has opt-in and opt-out, schedule, html and plain text options, multiple lists, etc. Not fancy, but sufficient.
