I know. Kings of Leon came to the HOB here last year and I had to miss it. I heard it was a great show. Hope they come back.

both me and my boyfriend have the same taste in music and its pretty eclectic,
we just did a weekend in Tofino and on the drive there and back we plugged our ipods into the cars system, some bands we heard during the ride were:
Pearl Jam
The tragically hip
The Beatles
Tom petty
Amy Winehouse
Favourite sons
Block party
Feist
Living legends
Wu-tang clan
Hieroglyphics
Lyrics born
Tech N9ne
three six mafia
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony,
Nas
Mos Def
When I want to dance (and thats A LOT!) I will pretty much play anything with a good beat...(usually over produced POP works just fine) five of my fave songs to dance to are...
1 "ohh baby" - Ciara (actually anything by Ciara works, thats why shes first)
2 "Touch" - Amerie
3 "chop me up" - Justin Timberlake ft Three Six Mafia
4 "maneater" - Nelly Furtado
5 "SOS" - Rhianna
and honorable mention goes out to "own personal Jesus" by Depeche mode because no matter what, if it comes on at a party people WILL dance!
Dave;
Friday... Your House... Dance off!
Recently been learning the bass guitar so I listen to the songs I am learning to play....some songs on my Bass practicing playlist are - I'm Your Man, Richard Hell & the Voidoids, - Blank Generation, Richard Hell & the Voidoids, Holidays in the sun and Anarchy in the UK by Sex Pistols, - New Orleans is sinking & 38 Years old & so hard done by, The Tragically Hip, - Fell in Love with a girl & 7 Nation Army, by white stripes.
I tried to Learn Ziggy Stardust on Bass this weekend, but it was VERY hard. I think i am able to play the intro but after that the bass gets pretty hard and fast. So my goals are to get good enough to play David Bowie songs on Bass.
Other than bass music, I listen to Richard Hell & the Voidoids lots cuz the Blank Generation album is really awesome, Listening more to David Bowie and such...and also anything else i have posted in here.
I dont really dance much.....Im not a fan of electronic music except for a few delerium songs, Radiohead and such. I really dislike most of th e"Pop" music that is out there, I actually dislike most (if not all that i have heard so far) of the new mainstream music that is being produced these days and thats why i have been listening to stuff from years ago. Music on the radio and tv etc has gone WAY downhill in my opinion. Bu thats just me.....I have been known to shake my booty to the music i like when im at home alone however....not enough junk in the trunk to be in public![]()

You can find my blog at ferociousfeline.com, I'm so cool I'm not even back linking myself!
I actually think that most people of our generation would agree with you Auliya, I mostly listen to oldies and classic rock when I want great music, as do most people that I know.
I wouldn't consider "pop" as real music anymore than I would consider KFC "chicken" as real food![]()
ha ha... ya.. I kinda agree with ya, Kathleen.
But, real music is a totally subjective concept. I know what you mean though, most music today is junk, but everyone hears music differently and there are many different tastes. Not good or bad tastes.. just different tastes.
I for one love older music as well, the doors, tom petty, the beatles, bob dilan, eric clapton.. sinatra even!
There are a few new bands under no category in particular I've been listening to that I thought I'd mention; Death Cab For Cutie, the Subways, Feist, Patrick Park, The Shins, The Magic Numbers, The Decemberists, Imogen Heap.. how could I forget Coldplay.
When I do listen to music, I will listen to pretty much anything though.. be it country, hiphop, rock, folk... but really it is still all just a distraction.
See, these days... I'm all about the new music... and I am constantly looking for new things I have never heard before.
The old stuff, yeah it's great (David Bowie is one of my all time favorites) but some of the stuff coming out these days I find to be even better.
Bands like The Arcade Fire, The Kings Of Leon and Muse... all bring something different to the table and it just sounds so amazing.
At work, I'm mostly about the movie soundtracks(Orchestrated). It's makes everything seen a lot more epic.
