Default I dropped in MSN too

I used to be #1 in MSN for 'Wilmington NC real estate' and within top 5 for 'Wilmington NC' and 'Wilmington real estate.'

Now I'm not even on the first page.

    Yikes.

In an attempt to please Yahoo a month or so ago, I added more key words to my homepage. I think Yahoo liked it, but is it too spammy for MSN now? What is the ideal density? I would be very thankful if some of you more seasoned guys and gals would take a look at my content and let me know if you think 'Wilmington' and 'NC' and 'real estate' are used too much.

    Thanks!

You may want to ask your clients/friends/neighbors/colleagues to see if they found it to be a good read...

IMO you should write your content for you website visitors, and not the search engines.

    "Ooh! Ooh! Ooh!"

(The above "ooh, ooh, ooh!" is a quote from an old television show called, "It's About time" - a show where astronauts got sent back in time to the caveman days. The statement quoted above was uttered by a certain caveman to indicate a brilliant thought by himself or someone else).

Melody, in just reading your first paragraph I could stop because it was very keyword repetitive. However, it also forced me to check out my own home page to make sure I wasn't doing the same thing. I certainly use kw's on my pages, but try to space them out so surfers can actually read the page.

I don't know that MSN doesn't like repetitive kw's over any other se (& am surprised that Yahoo would), but I have many, many top positions in MSN and unlike most here, I get most of my traffic from MSN, even on my sites where I have first page Google position.
Money Magazine says that Orland Park real estate is one of the best places to live in the U.S. Check out Homer Glen homes if you're interested in living in the newest Chicago suburb. Next door, Lemont homes are the priciest in the southwest suburbs and have held their value, even appreciating while prices in other areas have gone down.

I was just saying that is looks better to your visitor when content is written for them rather than the search engine. You want visitors to trust you and possibly come back to visit. If it doesn't sound natural when you read it to yourself then you should think about changing it.

I too have tried keyword stuffing for the search engines. It might work for a little while but that is it. Search engines are constantly changing their algo so my thoughts are create useful content for my visitors and include keywords when they make sense.

I'm beginning to wonder whether or not content on the page even matters for ranking. I have quite a few coming soon pages that rank in the top three in both msn and Y. Some are #1 in both. These pages rank for about 50 different phrases. Maybe a handful of links to each page but that's it. These are competitive keywords. No meta keyword stuffing but what I believe good title tags and meta description. No content whatsoever. Very strange! I've ranked very well on msn since the beginning and was first page after 1 week with a new site and have never actually changed rankings much in months. Leads me to believe that kw density on-page is not a factor for ranking in these search engines?
