Question Question: Top ranked after 2 yrs?

I just did a MSN search for "Ed Pierce", and my old website address came up as #2.

Granted, when I owned it, it ranked #1 for Ed Pierce. BUT, I have not owned the site (unfortunately) for quite some time, like a year.

MSN is still showing it listed as #2 for Ed Pierce when they have obviously cached dozens of pages after I dropped it by mistake and it was picked up by someone else.

    Why wouldn't it drop after the 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th cache?

Its probably because you did not email the websites linking to this website to get them to change the link destination and or anchor text. A perfect example - check out this autority site linking to your old domain http://www.realestateabc.com/realtor...N/Memphis.html notice the anchor text?
Starting LEC 7 soon but it won't be called LEC 7 - LEC 2012 coming soon!

Thanks. There is no way I coud go and fix or delete all those. That's pretty strong that anchor text can generate such a high SERP with zero of the same KW's on any of the pages. It is MSN, though.

That is a strong argument for using REW's link building.

My recommendation to you is since you have that high SERP to grab your own personal domain if it's available. EdPierce.com That should work well with what's already in the engines.

Ed Pierce is taken, I had a chance to buy it last year or so at $450, trust me; I am not worth that much, lol.

Anyway, the question had to do with an old URL still showing up high for my KW's, when those KW's weren't even on the page for the last year.

The answer seems to be "backlinks".

MSN is tough to figure out sometimes... I didn't think that MSN was very into anchor text, but maybe they are... but, yeah, if they are there... that must be why your domain is still ranking quite highly...
